A Peek Into Spring

I've been admiring Dolce & Gabbana's Spring 2012 runway photos from Milan fashion week.  I am most definitely feeling the large sorbet colored prints, three dimensional lace and of course retro cuts.

Oddly enough, this past September while visiting family in Jeddah, my sister and I did some fabric shopping and scored some brightly colored silk and three dimensional lace.  I made a skirt with the orange silk, and my sister made an adorable top out of the three dimensional lace.

She gets a ton of compliments when she wears it (I keep forgetting that I want to blog a "how to make your own lace top").  It is one of the easiest things we've sewn in a while.  As far as the skirt goes, it is a high waisted, full and fluffy style.  I have not had the chance to wear it yet, seeing as my baby bump has just been getting bigger.  But it works out since it is an epic spring skirt and will make a lovely addition to my wardrobe once baby makes his debut.

Moreover, all of last summer I was all about the cropped bra tops paired with high waist full skirts.  I will definitely pull them out again this year (and make some more in fruity patterns!)  I also would like to make some cute mini jumpers.

All these outfits make me want to move to Hawaii and live on the beach forever.  I've got sewing fever!

Happy Sunday!
