A Cake to Win Hearts

All the men in my family love chocolate. So here's a cake that won over a few people yesterday.

I used the same recipe as with this bundt cake (and it was just as good, if not better this time around).

My long battle with chocolate cakes is officially over. I always had a hard time making it all work, the strong flavor of the chocolate, the sweetness not being too much or too little and the moistness of the cake. It's officially perfected.

Moreover, in my opinion (the opinion of a non-frosting lover) whipped cream is the best combination with the rich flavor of chocolate. I also don't like to sweeten the whipped cream, because sugar tends to overcome flavor.

Adding a contrasting flavor to this cake would be a good idea as well, something like strawberries or possibly mint. That would also provide some extra color if you are serving this at a party (think mint leaves or strawberries placed on top).

The first few times I made this recipe I did it meticulously and focused as to not make any mistakes. This time around I made it in the hour my son napped.

I baked the two cakes at 350ยบ for about 35 minutes.

Use a grater to make some chocolate shavings to sprinkle on top of the cake.

Whip up your cream to a medium stiffness (Make sure not to over whip or you will end up with butter!)

The result is an absolutely scrumptious chocolate cake with a fresh and light alternative to frosting.

Bon apetite!
