Out & About: Art House Cafe

On Sunday my sister and I went estate sale-ing and for brunch at Art House Cafe

This cafe is perfectly located in the historic Stadium District, across from the every so adorable new burger joint "Shake Shake Shake." It boasts itself as the area's example of "Scratch American cuisine," using local and organic ingredients.

I've been several times (only for dinner) and have always been pleased. This time around, I found brunch to be extra delicious. Whether it was my extreme level of hunger or the delicious breakfast pizza and Dutch crepe I ordered, who knows (I'm leaning toward the latter being the cause).

I know breakfast pizzas are an extremely popular and trendy dish these days, but I never really went for them. I suppose I was never in the right place at the right time to be ordering one (brunch at a swanky spot?) I was pleasantly surprised to see that what I expected (a soggy mess) was completely not the case. The crust was perfectly thin and crispy, the egg seasoned and delicious and the cheese a comforting addition. I will definitely be ordering breakfast pizzas on the regular.

As for the crepe, again, I was extremely pleased and surprised. What I expected to be doused in sweet goo, was actually not. The berry compote was warm and perfectly tangy. I didn't feel like I was having dessert per se, but more of a fruity treat.

If you're in the Tacoma area, be sure to check this great spot out. You are guaranteed to be impressed.
