Mama's Got Style

Meet one of my favorite local mamas Madi Ervin (she doesn't blog. Gasp! I know). This gorgeous lady is a talented hair and makeup artist ("cosmetologist" if we're going to be official), spectacular mommy to Elliot, California girl at heart and Mexican pickle aficionado.

How would you define your personal style?

I don't think there is necessarily one type of "style" that I stick with. I've always loved vintage, so I guess a lot of what I wear is inspired by that. Now that I have a wild and crazy one year old my wardrobe has definitely taken a back seat and I lean towards more practical things, but I always try to have some form of statement piece.

Are there any trends you just don't get?

I will never understand why women think it is appropriate to wear leggings as pants. Nobody wants to see your camel toe. Just keep it at home! Also UGG boots should never go further than ones front porch.

Who would you say are your style icons?

I don't think I have one style icon, I take bits and pieces from different stylish people. Exposed ankle bone from Audrey Hepburn, the perfect blow out from Bridgette Bardot, and the black uniform from
Karl Lagerfeld. Kate moss, the Olson twins and Alexa Chung can also do no wrong.

What are some trends you are looking forward to for fall?

I love a good western inspired ankle boot, with the perfect heel to add height but not take away from the comfort value. Also with fall coming I'm excited to pull out a few of my vintage furs to go with military coats and a wide brimmed hat!
