Basically Red

I've always been a fan of all things artistic. I studied art in college, as often as I could, and while I will never proclaim to be an expert, I know the basics. Namely, the elements and principles of design; line, shape, contrast, unity, etc.

That being said, I firmly believe that knowing these basics is important before you branch out and take risks, whether it's in creating a piece of art or expressing your style. You must know the rules before you break them.

Once you know these basic principles, it tends to come naturally. Your eye will be drawn to the pop of color on a simple palette, or you will feel the harmony of contrasting colors working together to create something bold and so on and so forth. You won't have to think too hard about it.

Why the tangent? Because this outfit to me is going back to the basics. Simplicity with a bold focal point and a touch of repetition. That basically sums up week 1 of any beginner design class.

This is me, how I dress most of the time. Whether fancy or casual, I like to keep it simple with a pop. But there comes a time when, as a blogger (and a fashion lover) who wants to share her outfits, I find myself wanting to go over the top. While this is my space to experiment and wear ridiculous things, I relish in the moments where I tell myself "who cares if your shoes are boring black pumps? Take the weird ankle socks off and keep it basic" Sometimes, that simplicity can be exactly what is needed.

Now whether you think high waist librarian slacks are basic or not, is all about your personal taste. That's not really the argument here, now is it?

What I'm wearing - pants: vintage banana republic ($5 at the goodwill kids!) // blouse: h&m // clutch: vintage (urban xchange) // pumps: christian louboutin // lipstip: revlon "love that red"

But who cares really, in the end, it's all about this freaking red clutch people. The red clutch of my dreams. You'll find there are a lot of 'fill in the blanks' of my dreams on this site. I have a lot of dreams.

You say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. How many of you are in search of the perfect red clutch? Look no further than the bottom of this post ladies, I did the work for you. You can thank me later.
